The Cottage By The Sea was built in 1803 as a fisherman's homestead, and looks out to the Paddy's Head Lighthouse and glorious Atlantic Ocean beyond. It has been updated with some modern comforts while preserving its rustic charm.
Surrounded on both sides by mature trees, a path winds down to the waterfront where you can really enjoy the view. Savour that hearty salt air from the bench and deck perched on the white granite boulders. Or relax down at the shore, where at low tide you'll find a sandy path through seaweed-covered rocks where you can dip your toes in the ocean. Keep an eye out for crabs and even lobsters!
From the comfortable "open-plan" living room and dining area, you will enjoy the view down to the water through the shared cottage garden. And with no telephones to disturb your relaxation you will have ample opportunity to unwind from the stresses of day-to-day life.
Equipped with stove, microwave, fridge and coffee maker, the kitchen, living and dining area complete the upper floor. Just bring the groceries and make yourselves at home. Should you decide to bring home the catch of the day, the gas barbeque might help to make it an unforgettable meal.
The bedroom, with a comfortable Queen-sized bed and ensuite 3-piece bathroom, are located downstairs.
This unique two acre property is home to three separate cottages: Cottage by the Sea, Driftwood House, and Ross Roost, which all share the gardens and waterfront. This property is well suited for groups of up to 10 people, or each cottage can be rented separately.
Location
The Cottage by the Sea is minutes drive from the famous rocks and lighthouse of Peggy's Cove, and a 20 minute drive to Tantallon where you will find all the amenities. Halifax is a 40 minute drive away. There are several beaches nearby, the closest being Paddy's Head, which is considered one of the best diving locations in Nova Scotia, only a short walk away.
