Rackets Hall and Guest House are perched on the edge of a slate cliff with stunning, south facing views of the open Atlantic and Rose Bay. The property consists of a two-story home and a two-story guesthouse on nearly five acres of forest and landscaped lawns. It is a secluded retreat with a private spruce lined driveway.
It is both modest and grand, with an estate-like disposition. The "infinity lawn" stretches almost 500 feet and the elevated panoramic views are breathtaking.
Rackets Hall is a classic cape style with a modern interior and natural light is abundant. From all the windows enjoy the views of the grounds and the open sea. On the ground floor there is no formal separation between the foyer, living room, dining area and kitchen.
The kitchen features a concrete and butcher-block island with a raised glass eating bar, and includes a six-burner Wolf gas stove with an overhead spigot (for topping up cooking pots) and a stainless steel hood. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large walk-in pantry with floor to ceiling stainless steel shelves and an overhead pot rack. A combined laundry and mudroom, as well as a half bath, complete the open plan of the ground floor.
The second floor is even brighter in its uninterrupted spaces. A staircase climbs up through the lofty foyer to the spacious landing, flanked by the two bedrooms and luxurious master bathroom. The master bedroom is open to the landing and boasts a king-size bed and large windows. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and plenty of closet and storage space. The tub in the master bathroom is positioned to enable one to literally soak up the view and the huge shower area features a 12 inch wide ceiling mounted shower head.
The guesthouse is not more than 70 feet from the main house. It is a classic salt box clad in cedar shingles with pine floors throughout and has a single large bedroom on the entire second floor. It too is filled with light and views of the sea.
There is a kitchenette with an electric stove and fridge on a L-shaped island. The three-piece bathroom features a shower tiled in tumbled marble. The guesthouse is in range of the wireless internet connection from the main house.
