This one-of-a-kind cottage is less than a year old, and was lovingly designed and constructed by its owner, a master carpenter.
Upstairs is the main living space, and its open plan incorporates a living room, kitchen and dining area. The vaulted ceiling, rustic wooden beams, and tasteful mixture of antiques and modern comfortable furniture create a perfect blend of old and new. Kick back on the L-shaped sofa and enjoy a movie on the large flat screen TV, or enjoy a summer evening on the balcony where you have a splendid birds-eye view of the Paddy's Head lighthouse and the mouth of St. Margaret's Bay.
The beautifully designed kitchen is completely handmade and well-conceived. It is fully equipped with everything you'll need to cook up a feast (oven range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, etc.) and is separated from the dining area by an island.
The antique dining table seats six. Or if you prefer, barbeque your meals and enjoy them on the balcony under an umbrella.
The large bathroom completes the upper level and has an oversized bathtub with air jets as well as a large separate walk-in shower.
In the open loft perched above the living space is the well-appointed master bedroom with king-sized bed. The second bedroom, also with a king sized bed, is on the ground floor.
Stroll down to the waterfront through the shared cottage gardens and take in the fresh ocean air. The private rocky shoreline boasts the most beautiful view of Indian Harbour and the Paddy's Head lighthouse. This is where the adventure begins - be it be a dip in the water or a hike along the white granite boulders.
This unique two acre property is home to three separate cottages: Ross Roost, Driftwood House, and Cottage by the Sea, all of which share the gardens and waterfront. This property is well suited for groups of up to 10 people, or each cottage can be rented separately.
Location
Ross Roost is minutes drive from the famous rocks and lighthouse of Peggy's Cove, and a 20 minute drive to Tantallon where you will find all the amenities. Halifax is a 40 minute drive away. There are several beaches nearby, the closest being Paddy's Head, which is considered one of the best diving locations in Nova Scotia, only a short walk away. August 2010
This has been our first visit to Nova Scotia. We're from the States - Connecticut. We are spending two weeks in Nova Scotia. Our first week at Peggy's Cove is quickly drawing to a close. We will head down the coast, spending our second week in Lockeport. This cottage has been great! It is simply beautiful! My wife and I both love the design and craftsmanship. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at Ross Roost this week.

We are Nova Scotians transplanted to Ontario. It was lovely to spend a week in Indian Harbour in this beautiful cottage. We miss home and will always think it is the most beautiful and peaceful place anywhere.

This is our first trip to Nova Scotia. We are from Kitchener, Ontario. Staying here at the Ross Roost was like home away from home. We had all we needed here, which made it easy with our 8 month old daughter. The design of this cottage is one for a magazine. Thank you for a wonderful week.

We have been here for a month and enjoyed our stay. Your cottage is beautiful! The open concept with the rustic flare made us feel right at home. We spent our early evenings on the deck with a glass of wine and enjoyed the ocean sounds. While visiting St. Margaret's Bay, Indian Harbour, we made several trips to Halifax to see our son. He attends St. Mary's University and is on the football team. We saw four of his games! Another trip we made at least six times was a visit to Peggy's Cove.
