Sea Star Cottage

Charming Oceanfront Cottage near Peggy's Cove
Description

Sea Star Cottage is a charming two-bedroom cottage overlooking Indian Harbour and it's islands. The cottage is over one hundred years old but has been completely restored in the past year and is now a wonderful combination of old and new. This is the ideal place to spend a quiet week and truly get away from it all.

The main floor of this cheerful cottage has a living room (with seating for four) that enjoys a view over the water. The open plan dining area and well-conceived kitchen are bright and fully equipped. The bathroom has all new fixtures, including a combination bathtub/shower, and a stacking washer and dryer. Upstairs are the two bedrooms; one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds.

Soak up the sun on the large back deck, or barbeque your meal on the propane grill.

A wooded path leads to the backside of the island, which looks out to the mouth of St. Margaret's Bay and the open ocean beyond. Here you can sit on white granite boulders, and rarely see another soul. It is a great place to whale watch - you might spot a minke or humpback whale swimming by.

Just a few minutes walk down the road is Paddy's Head Beach, a small and lovely sandy beach with crystal clear water. This beach is known to be one of the best locations in the province for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Summer 2013
We came here to get married and stayed here. This cottage made our wedding/honeymoon extra special and awesome. I love this place, thank you so much for sharing your cottage with us. Beautiful place!
- M & P.K.
If I were to have one complaint, it would be that your description of this place did not do it justice. I suspect though that your reason for this is that, like most things in Nova Scotia, treasures are best kept secret. Thank you!
- M, F & N
We had such a great time last August that we decided to come back this year. Our week was filled with revisiting old places and adding some new adventures. Just like last year we have had a wonderful vacation and are sad to leave today.
- G.C. & L.C., Clayton, Ontario
The 3 of us had a wonderful week! It is amazing to be so snug while surrounded by the sea. We walked out to the rocks at least twice every day and also enjoyed our strolls out to the little beach just past the bridge. Thanks!
- A, C & J
A beautiful setting for my sister and I to have an opportunity to rekindle our bond. We spent many lazy afternoons on the rocks out back, mesmerized by the sea and surroundings. If ever there was a place on earth to call one home to peace and tranquillity - this is surely it. We thank you for sharing your lovely restored home - we take with us a wonderful memory to treasure.

Thank you for allowing us to use your beautifully restored cottage. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and learned a lot about Nova Scotia! All our best,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage with us. We explored many of the local towns and coastline. The boys enjoyed beach combing along the rocks out to Yowlers Point lighthouse - we even found "Wilson" on the rocks! You have a great cottage in a fantastic part of the country.
- The B Family, Oakville, Ontario
Thanks so much for a great week. The view and the sound of the waves and gulls was very relaxing. Also the smell of the pines. A little bit of heaven on earth. The girls loved the "backyard". Climbing and rock jumping was awesome! Our first trip to Nova Scotia, but not our last.
- A, K, V, & A, Georgetown, OH
Thank you for the lovely stay in your cottage. It is a very comfortable place to spend a week with wonderful south shore views. We had great Sri Lankan beef curry at the Finer Diner - who knew! Three great beach days at Hubbard's and Queensland. Thanks for sharing your gem of a spot!
- T, J, M, E, St. Catharines, Ontario
We had a wonderful week here - beautiful weather, lots of lobster, many swims at Micou's Island. You have a lovely cottage - the perfect NS experience! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Summer 2011
What a beautiful and peaceful spot! You have done a wonderful job restoring this place - we'd live here if we could!
- A.O. & L.O., Vineland, Ontario
A wonderful vacation at Sea Star Cottage and the surrounding area. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location and the cottage is well equipped and clean and comfortable. Our two children particularly enjoyed our early evening hikes along the rocks (out back) to Yowlers Point Lighthouse and along in the opposite direction (not quite all the way around the island). This is our first visit to this part of Canada and we have only scratched the surface. We certainly hope to return one day to explore further. Early morning tea and coffee on the front steps, enjoying the sunshine would be but one of our recommendations to other guests. We had great meals at the Finer Diner and Murphy's in Halifax.
- M, H, C, S, T
A beautiful place - we enjoyed our week here, despite quite a bit of rain. Trips to Lunenburg, Halifax, beautiful Chester and Hubbards, days spent on the beach (Queensland), the trail, days were flying by! We experienced one of the craziest thunderstorms ever. The cottage is great - thanks a lot!
- C, I, J, Oakville, Ontario
The sea beaconed us here, to this old fishermans home, so wonderfully restored. We want to get married in Peggy's Cove, enchanted by its stunning, timeless beauty. We were drawn by only the name and a few pictures that could hardly do it justice, to find ourselves fall so deeply in love with this beautiful seaside area.
- W & D
Our first trip to Nova Scotia! We've been wanting to come for a few years and finally had the opportunity! We brought our newborn with us, just 11 weeks old! We so much enjoyed the white rocks out back and watching the sunset and also the view out the front! Peggy's Cove was spectacular! Great beach at Hubbards. All the amenities we needed we were able to find here at the cottage. A perfect place to get away from it all! Had an awesome time with many great adventures especially with our baby, to be forever remembered.

Summer 2010
What a beautiful cottage. Sitting on the deck listening to the waves slapping up against the rocks is so calming. Walking through the bush for a view of the ocean is so nice. You did a wonderful job restoring the cottage. Plenty of supplies and dishes and the bed was very comfortable. We had a wonderful time relaxing and really enjoyed Peggy's Cove.
- K.C. and H.C., Renfrew, Ontario
Thank you for everything. We've had a wonderful time. This is truly a great place to escape and unplug from the world. Your place is cozy and warm and provided us with everything we needed. Thanks for arranging for the awesome weather too! We've enjoyed the beach at Hubbard's, bike rides, sunsets... perfect. Look forward to coming again.
- A, E, C, B & E
This has been an experience I will never forgetů Watching Hurricane Earl from the backyard of the cottage. It was a sight that was too spectacular for words! I am officially a storm chaser now! This is the most relaxing place I have ever been, thank you so much for letting us stay!
- K.
