Built in the late 1700's, Pepperpot Cottage is one of the oldest oceanfront homesteads remaining on St. Margaret's Bay. Almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the views of Paddy's Head Lighthouse - which the locals at one time called "the Pepperpot Lighthouse" - are nothing short of sublime. And what's truly special about this property is the sheer intimacy of the sea. From the huge back deck, you can literally throw a pebble into the water.

Restored from stem to stern, this cozy 2-bedroom fisherman's cottage still looks much the same as it did over two hundred years ago, with rustic wide-plank flooring, exposed beams, and the same jaw-dropping views from almost every window. What little has changed are the modern creature comforts, including high-speed internet, granite kitchen countertops, and brand new appliances (laundry and dishwasher included).

In true Nova Scotia spirit, the open-plan kitchen/dining space is the perfect setting for a proper "kitchen party". The dining table seats six, unless of course you'd rather eat outdoors, overlooking the sea.

Upstairs you'll find two cozy bedrooms, separated by a tasteful 4-piece bathroom with combination tub/shower. The master bedroom, which faces the lighthouse, has a comfortable queen-sized bed, while the second bedroom has two double beds. Both bedrooms enjoy fantastic ocean views.

Outside, the deck spans the entire length of the cottage, and the lawn wraps around the cottage, following the rocky shoreline. Patio furniture and a propane barbeque are there for your enjoyment, whether you want to cook up a seafood meal or simply relax and soak up the scenery.

Pepperpot cottage is suitable for families of four, friends looking for a quiet getaway, or couples looking for the perfect place to enjoy an authentic Nova Scotia seaside experience.

Pepperpot Cottage is located in Indian Harbour, just off Route 333, which is only one hour from the airport, and 45 minutes to downtown Halifax.

The famous fishing village of Peggy's Cove is 10 minutes away. Tantallon, a 15 minute drive, has all the amenities you will need (grocery stores, liquor store, public library, gas stations, movie rentals, take-out restaurants, etc.). However there is a great convenience store nearby as well as several restaurant choices.

What a joyous experience it was to come to this gorgeous place. Comfy, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean, the cottage commands the most wonderful views of the water, the lighthouse, the sky...Can’t wait to see it again.

Absolutely wonderful!

This is a charming, extremely well stocked and comfortable cottage. The views are incredible, the situation fabulous, and it is even better than advertised!! Wish we could've stayed longer! We appreciated Jeanne's quick response to a query we had. Thanks Jeanne :o)

All the comforts of home - plus a spectacular view!

My husband and I needed a getaway from the city. This little gem is less than a one hour drive from home, but it was the perfect spot for some much needed rest and solitude. Gorgeous views, and all the comforts of home. A well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, lots of towels, fire wood, books and magazines, and a washer/dryer if needed. Nicely decorated, and very clean. We were happy to cook most nights, but enjoyed a lovely meal one night at the Rhubarb just down the street. We would definitely think about staying here again sometime. Quaint, cozy, clean, and comfortable!

One of the prettiest place I have stayed.

The cottage was very clean and well stocked. It was exactly as advertised and much more. It had a nice view and more importantly was very close to Peggy's Cove, my favorite place in the world. My two adult daughters were with me and were very excited with our whole experience. I highly recommend this cottage as it is in the middle of Nova Scotia and does not take long to get to most areas. Would love to come back!

Charming cottage with waterfront view.

We adored this cottage. It was beautifully decorated and had a lovely view. Peaceful location. The kitchen was well equipped. We made breakfasts and dinner there during our stay. You do have to separate trash, compost, and recyclables. It wasn't hard and they had the proper bags for it. Easy to get to Peggy's Cove from here. Would definitely stay here again if we visit the area in the future.

Beautiful Cottage!

Our party of 5 (4 adults, one baby) had an excellent stay at Pepperpot Cottage. The Cottage is beautifully done and feels very homey. The Cottage was well stocked with everything we could possible need. The views from the deck are great. We enjoyed most of our time out there. The neighbors were very friendly. They shared some tips for meals (the Finer Diner was delicious) and walking paths. Would definitely stay again!

Set foot in Paradise and Relax!

We loved our stay at Jeanne's cabin. From the moment we sat foot at the front door, we relaxed. The home has views from every room, that was one my favorite things. The cabin has been completely remodeled, affording brand new appliances, all the dishes, glasses, cooking utensils that you could ever use. We decided to make light breakfasts and headed to Rhubarbs and Ryer's for lunch and dinner, two fabulous places less than one mile away from the cabin. You must walk to the lighthouse and the secret spot following Jeanne's instructions. We want to come back and stay for one month. Thank you for letting use your cabin!!!

Wonderful getaway close to the city

I stayed at the Pepperpot Cottage with three friends for our annual "Girls Weekend". We were happy to find a spot close to the city, yet it felt like we were further away. It is a beautiful and quiet location. We were all very impressed with the combination of new/traditional in the cottage (e.g. new appliances and granite countertops but beautiful exposed beams and other touches that still made it feel like a cottage). The cottage was well stocked with dishes, glasses, and anything else you require in the kitchen. We had a great weekend and would definitely return.
