Splendid views and a private sandy beach are among the many highlights of the Beach Lodge - the king of log homes.

If you've ever dreamt of the quintessential Canadian log home, the Beach Lodge is it. This 3500 sq. ft. home was built with spectacular hand-chiseled logs, some of which are 60 feet long and 2 feet thick. The design is open concept, with cathedral ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. The log home is nestled amongst the trees, well above the high tide mark, and it enjoys picture-perfect views of St. Margaret's Bay and nearby islands.

The private beach, known locally as "Anne Murray's Beach", is shared by the occupants of only one other home. The sandy beach is protected, and perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and beach combing. And just around the corner, only a few minutes walk down the road, is Paddy's Head, widely considered to be one of the best scuba diving sites in Nova Scotia.

The property sits on approximately 6 acres of very private forested oceanfront land, and also features a large saltwater pond that hosts a variety of wildlife species and seabirds.

The open concept main floor boasts a large living room, kitchen, and dining area. The living room has an impressive fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the bay. The country style kitchen is a chef's delight, with granite countertops, a large island and all the modern appliances and tools you will need to cook up a storm. Two double bedrooms, and a full bathroom with a claw foot tub, make up the rest of the main floor plan.

A sizeable deck sits just off of the dining area and is perfect for enjoying a meal alfresco, or for simply enjoying the peace and tranquility of Nova Scotia nature at its best.

Upstairs, the open and spacious loft-style master bedroom looks down over the main floor and enjoys the most spectacular views of the ocean. The ensuite master bathroom offers an extra-large tiled shower, and enters into a large walk-in closet.

The finished lower level has a luxurious family room, perfect for relaxing or watching a movie on the large flat-screen TV. And if you're coming in from a swim in the ocean, why not jump into the tiled shower/steam room before heading upstairs. It's also worth mentioning that there is a utility room with a washer and dryer on this level.

The Beach Lodge is located in Indian Harbour, just minutes from Peggy's Cove. It is a 30 minute drive to Halifax and an hour to the airport.

Tantallon, a 20 minute drive away, has all the amenities you will need (grocery stores, liquor store, public library, gas stations, movie rentals, etc.) and there is a local shop a few kilometers down the road, which has all the basic necessities.

Lost in time...

Our family chose the Beach Lodge for our 14-day mandatory self-isolation period upon entering Nova Scotia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to public health regulations, we were not permitted to leave the property - and not once did we want to. We lost track of time and couldn't believe when it was time to leave. The granite walled cove, turquoise water, vivid aquatic live, daily blue heron visitor, and constantly rolling in and out fog... made for a truly magical unforgettable 14 days.

We hope to be able to come back!

We enjoyed a fantastic week at the Beach Lodge! Our favorite parts were: the gorgeous view, the family of deer (including a white deer), the sunsets, a great meal at Rhubarb restaurant, yummy goodies from the White Sails Bakery, the Tuesday market in Tantallon, and playing and splashing in the sheltered cove.

What hasn't already been written?

We had a wonderful, fun and relaxing vacation here.

Our young children (ages 5 and 2.5) loved exploring the beach and rocks for sea glass, shells and crab legs! This was the perfect spot to explore Peggy's Cove (including many trips for Dee Dee's ice cream), Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and Chester. We will remeber this special family vacations with much fondness and can't wait to return. Thank you for the use of your stunning home in such an scenic and peaceful setting!

Words cannot convey how beautiful this place is!

What a stunning house and what a breathtaking location. From the moment we walked through the door, all the pressures of everyday life melted away. We've had the best time staying here with friends and exploring the area with them. The weather has been fantastic, sunshine every day, apart from one morning when it rained, and even that did not diminish the experience! There are some great places to eat, notably at Shining Waters, the marina up the road, and the Trellis Café in Hubbards. The only negatives were that the week went by too quickly, and that we don't own this wonderful house! Thanks for a great stay!
