Peaceful, picturesque retreat

My family of 5; children ages 10, 12 and 14 stayed at this lovely house with another family (of four) the last week in August. We were impressed with the house's large windows letting in lots of light, the updated decor, the amenities, and all the comforts needed to feel at home. There were 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards at our disposal. One early evening my friend and I went for a paddle around the cove and were greeted with 3 or 4 seals that came out to play. They came fairly close to us and were very friendly. The house is down a quiet road with friendly neighbors and there is an amazing bike path that runs close by. Pay close attention to the recycling rules. Our first night there we made the mistake of disposing our garbage the way were would in NY and then had to go back through it the next day and do it the right way. Respect it. There is a nice fire pit, big grill, and a foosball table that was a big hit with the kids (and my husband). Having coffee on the deck and looking out onto the water was a nice way to start the day and there are several place to eat your meals. The deck seats 6, the kitchen island seats another 4 and the dining room holds 6 more... nice way to let the kids have their space from the adults (of the other way around). The house has a very warm ambiance. Even the light fixtures are well thought out being both unique and useful (inside and out). We didn't spend tons of time at the house because there are some nice side trips to take but if you wanted to stay at the house and just relax, it's perfect for that as well. We took the hour drive to Blue Rocks an did a kayak tour with Pleasant Paddlers. Our guides were Dave and Finn. They were great. Finn was amazing with the kids. Lots of knowledge and very personable. We got live lobsters from Ryer Retail down by Peggys cove and cooked them up at the house. We ate dinner at the Finer Diner in Hacketts Cove which was very good. We also took a trip into Halifax which was an easy drive. We walked the boardwalk where there are a few really cool restaurants, and stopped into the Maritime Museum to see Titanic display. the other areas of the city are very different from boardwalk. We went to a place called Good Robot Brewing Company in the North End. Fun little place. We enjoyed our stay and the surrounding area. Great house and any time we had to get in touch with Jeanne, she was very quick to reply. We definitely recommend.

A really enjoyable stay

We would highly recommend this property. The location is great: the house is directly on the water (great going out on the kayaks and paddle boards), is very well decorated and has everything to make it a really enjoyable stay. A real highlight for us was relaxing bbq’s on the terrace looking over the water. It’s also close by to a really nice cycle route (dis-used railway line) and a 10-20 drive to excellent restaurants. Our favorite was Rhubarb. Highly recommended.

Fantastic family vacation

Fabulous vistas from cottage, warm calm waters and beautiful grounds. Close proximity to the airport and downtown Halifax, within 30 mins. Excellent location for excursions to many different day trips, such as Crystal Crescent Beach, Lunenburg, Hirtle's Beach, Peggy's Cove, and Wolfville. Cottage has all the amenities for large family gatherings, or smaller. Kitchen/family area great for entertaining or just enjoying the view.
