Osprey Hill Guest House is a rustic retreat property with a wonderful salt water view and extraordinary location. With large picture windows, vaulted ceilings, pine floors and cabinetry, a Jotul woodstove and two private sleeping areas, Osprey Hill Guest House is ideal for one or two couples seeking relaxation and a central base for exploring Nova Scotia's South Shore.
The main floor has two large bedrooms with queen-sized beds and water views. The dining room, living room and kitchen are situated between these two bedrooms offering guests great privacy. There are two bathroom areas on the main floor; one with a walk-in shower unit and a sink, the other with a toilet and sink, and there is another full bath and laundry room downstairs. Osprey Hill Guest House also has a main floor den with a large flat-screen TV and DVD player. The cottage has 11 screened windows that open easily to let in the ocean breezes, newly installed air conditioning and high-speed wifi.
The large deck overlooks the saltwater and has a propane BBQ, new outdoor seating and a fire pit to enjoy the magnificent views.
Whynacht's Point is one of several peninsulas jutting out into St. Margaret's Bay and is a very popular destination for boaters. Nearly surrounded by saltwater, it is widely recognized as a micro-climate that seems to defy fog. Deer, fox and pheasants share "The Point" with osprey, eagles and Great Blue Heron, all of which are often seen from the cottage. Canoeists and kayakers have water access at the bottom of the lane while Whynacht's Point Road, leading to the cottage, offers a peaceful half-hour stroll along the shore. The area around Whynacht's Point is surrounded by spectacular beaches, historic towns, fine dining, galleries, craft and antique stores. The St. Margaret's Bay cycling/walking Trail is only minutes away and all amenities (grocery stores, gas stations banks, drug stores, liquor store, etc.) are less than a ten-minute drive from the cottage. Guests can also walk to the White Sails Bakery and Deli in ten minutes or so, recently included in "Where to Eat in Canada," where tourtiere, Angus burgers, Montreal smoked meat, fish chowder, croissants and sugar pies may be found in abundance.
Osprey Hill Guest House is 15 minutes from sandy beaches, 20 minutes from the world-famous Peggy's Cove, 30 minutes from downtown Halifax, 40 minutes from Chester, 50 minutes from Mahone Bay, 60 minutes from Lunenburg and the orchards and wineries of the Annapolis Valley. The Halifax International Airport is 35 minutes away.
